Lots of things to tell you about, it’s been a busy few weeks at TRJFP Brum!
We were visited by Charlotte Watkivs from A Zero Waste Life, who wrote a lovely blog post about us. You can read it here.
We rolled out our new induction training programme for volunteers. Thank you to everyone who gave up 2 hours of their Saturday to join us, and thanks to a grant from the Big Lottery Fund to make it happen. More dates coming soon, hopefully at a venue and time suitable for you! If you’d like to get involved – have a look here for more information about the sorts of things we need help with and how you can volunteer!
We also need to say big thanks to Burnetts Manufacturing of Northampton. They very generously donated some heavy duty shelving which we so desperately needed in our warehouse. As you can see, thanks to the hard work of our volunteers, it’s in place and we’ve already started putting it into use.
Burnett’s donation won’t just benefit The Real Junk Food Project Birmingham! In turn, we’re donating the surplus shelving we can’t use to Birmingham Play Care Network (BPCN) for use in their Scrapstore!
Birmingham Play Care Network are a charity with very similar aims to The Real Junk Food Project. They collect and sort clean business waste and other materials or ‘scrap’ donated by individuals and companies for redistribution to individuals and organisations supporting play and creativity.
